In August 2013 Stephen Fry wrote an open letter to the International Olympic Committee calling for a ban of the Winter Olympics in Russia because of the anti-gay laws. He compared the situation of LGBT's in Russia to the situation of the Jewish people in Nazi-Germany. Not everybody agrees that banning the Olympics in Russia is the best solution to deal with the problem. The British Prime Minister thinks it would be better to attend the event and challenge the prejudices face on.
